Skin Preparation
-
Hair Length
Aim for hair to be about ¼ inch long (about the length of a grain of rice). This is the ideal length for the wax to grip the hair effectively. If it's too short, the wax won't be able to grab the hair; if it's too long, it can cause more discomfort.
-
Exfoliation
Gently exfoliate the area to be waxed 24-48 hours before your appointment. This helps to remove dead skin cells, which can prevent ingrown hairs and allow for a smoother wax. Avoid harsh scrubs and opt for a gentle exfoliating mitt or a washcloth with a mild body wash.
-
Cleanse
On the day of your appointment, cleanse the area with a mild soap and water to remove any sweat, oils, or lotions.
This ensures that the wax can adhere properly to the hair.
-
Moisturize
Keep the area moisturized in the days leading up to your appointment to prevent dryness. However, avoid applying lotion or oils on the day of your wax, as this can interfere with the wax's grip.
-
Communicate
If you have any concerns about your skin or any medical conditions that might affect your waxing experience, be sure to let your waxing technician know beforehand.
-
What about my period?
Yes! Just wear a tampon, cup, or disc. Many clients do, and I’ll make sure you feel comfortable.
-
How long will results last?
Everyone’s hair grows differently, but most clients enjoy 3–5 weeks of smooth skin before needing a touch-up.
-
Is your studio inclusive?
Absolutely. Kelowna Waxing is a private, judgment-free space that welcomes all bodies, all genders, and every client story. I practice trauma-aware care, so your comfort always comes first.
